Other Contract Work

All items appearing on the Externally Published Articles page of this blog are published on other websites through which the owner of this blog has a contractual agreement with the publishing website.  Once published, the posts are owned by the publishing website.  They are linked here as a record of work completed.  These sites may have external sponsorship agreements which I do not receive a portion of.  All of the work done commercially is for a flat rate.

Publications I currently am under contract with include: Techrepublic.com and Redmond Magazine.  I occasionally also do some contract work with Pearson Education where each piece of work is handled by its own contract.

In 2012 I was chosen by SolarWinds to serve as a ambassador to the thwack program and provide general postings in the forum to help drive topic discussions. This is a paid engagement between myself and Solarwinds.  This does not influence my opinions as they relate to Solarwinds products and will not influence any reviews of products I may post here or for publication elsewhere.

For content written by Derek Schauland, both here and appearing on other sites or in publications, there may be products or services provided by a vendor for review.  When provided the products are provided to me free of charge and in no way influence the outcome of any posts that may come from reviewing the application or product.

Events

Being an independent blogger, I am occasionally asked to attend events sponsored by vendor companies.  When attending these events, I do not receive compensation from the vendor, but may receive travel, accommodations, and meals as part of my acceptance of invitation. In addition, I may receive items from vendor or sponsor companies including:

T-shirts, Jackets, Mugs, Cups, Bags and other things branded with vendor logos.  I may also receive copies of software  to evaluate and provide my opinion, these items do not influence my opinion as an independent blogger.
